About Us

The Western Massachusetts Fly Fishermen (WMFF) was founded in 1971 as a IRS 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. It had existed before then as a chapter of the United Fly Tyers, but spun off as an independent club. Over 50 years later the club is dedicated to the sport of fly fishing with members made up of men and women from Massachusetts and Connecticut.

WMFF Objectives

  • Promote the art and skills of fly fishing and tying through education.
  • Promote favorable conditions for angling
  • Improve and conserve the sport of fly fishing

Our top priorities are:

  • Wildlife education and conservation
  • Membership activities
  • Monthly meetings September through May, usually with a guest speaker
  • Monthly tying demo prior to meeting
  • Annual exposition and member cookout
  • Fly tying and casting clinics
  • Fly tying demos at various locations

Fly tying classes

Each year beginning on the second Thursday of January and continuing for eight consecutive Thursdays fly tying classes are offered at the Ludlow Elks Lodge. The classes are free of charge and open to the public. Our club supplies all the tools and materials to be used by participants.
