Since its founding in 1971, one of the core principles of the Western Mass Fly Fishermen has been the teaching and promoting of the practice and art of fly tying through education.
Each year beginning on the second Thursday of January and continuing for eight consecutive Thursdays fly tying classes are offered at the Ludlow Elks Lodge. The classes are open to the public. The classes are free of charge. Our club supplies all the tools and materials to be used by participants. If you have tied in the past and want a refresher, please feel free to join the classes. If you have your own tools feel free to bring them. Two flies will be tied each week totaling 16 flies. The classes usually begin with a Woolley Worm and work up to more complex fly patterns. Club members are on hand to assist students.
Come and have fun, learn a new hobby and use your creations to catch fish!
